I was trying to do what's best for the city. I'm always trying to do that. We'll see how this plays out.

Do you know how often I'm told I doomed Gotham the day I let you live?

Oh please, people are so dramatic.

You doomed Gotham by making Sofia exist in it but let's face it, I'm good for Gotham and people would know that if they could get over themselves. I was the best mayor this city ever had. Officially! Go look it up. I lowered crime, increased employment levels and built affordable housing. I also essentially rebuilt it after the whole Tetch Virus mess. Not to mention all the money I've poured into this economy.

Name one other person who'd done this much good for the city?

You legalised crime. You tried to bend everything in this city so it'd fit under your umbrella. That's no way to anything but an eventual implosion. Revolution.

I did it for a time being to fix the city because otherwise, there was no fixing the city. They paid for a licence, there was finally less crime and looting and then I put the money back into the economy.

So I also ran a bar with the money and got some art, I also built a school... I think. Mr Penn told me I did so I assume I did.

Government has to be built on more than one pillar. Don't pretend like you didn't want to render the GCPD ineffective to get back at me. You made that part clear.

Yeah, I do wonder why I'd ever want to do that.

It's not like the GCPD tried to use me as a cash payment for the Riddler, my enemy, effectively sentencing me to death. It's not like you dragged me there in handcuffs and almost handed me over to him. abusing your power and breaking many laws. Laws you only care about when it comes to me. Not to mention you only arrested me because I was distracted trying to save Fish after you KILLED HER.

It truly is a mystery.

If that's true, then she'll have to be brought to justice eventually too. I thought replacing one gangster with another might be the way to go, but Gotham needs something else.

I'm desperate and I'm lonely and I want someone to want me, even if I don't want them. They cooked like my mother and, honestly, she smelled like her and had this whole vibe of -- whatever. I'm pathetic but at least I can admit that!

You had a load of money, it can't have been that difficult to find someone to want you who doesn't also plan to undermine you. Not that I should complain. Just saying.
